Plans in the works
Jul. 30th, 2009 06:03 pmAs I hinted at previously, I am in the process of making some changes that have to do with this journal.
In nutshell, I am working through organizing my thoughts (and the journal)along with other social media to begin to capitalize on the online "brand" that I have created for myself, 'tnrkitect'.
This stems from a realization I had while reading a recent book on Marketing for Architects. It talked about the basic marketing technique of "branding" you or your firm in the eyes of the public.
Over the years, I have managed to inadvertently create a brand through this journal, albeit a somewhat muddled one due to the interspersing of private life in between the public life.
I plan to delineate between the two by having my 'professional' posts, ie. those that deal with architecture, design, sustainability, link posts and the like be public posts, open to reading by all.
I will post the ones that deal with private issues behind a friends filter, in order to keep those posts locked down only to those that I want to be able to read them.
I will also be going back and revamping my old posts to reflect the new filters, so as to simplify my archiving. (Though the revamping is a task in itself).
I will be tying this into my Dreamwidth, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts as well, with all of them cross referencing each other. (Not sure about MySpace. I may just delete that account entirely).
My goals for this are four-fold.
1) Get back to writing and posting regularly. I miss it.
2) Truly begin marketing myself as an architect through my writings and online presences, both to the public and to other professionals.
3) Refine my brand as 'tnrkitect' projecting professionalism and competence.
4) Use all of the above to land new projects.
This all ties into the fact that I am almost finished with my intense studying for my licensing exams (only one left to pass; which I take in mid to late September), which has taken brain cycles away from this journal (among other things).
So, as I said previously;
Stay tuned!
